(Washington, DC – Insurance News and Markets) -According to an Employee Benefit Research Institute piece published last month, fewer small employers are offering health insurance to their employees, but the number of large employers are remaining steady.
Employers with more than 1,000 employees and those with 100-999 employees have remained steady in offering health insurance. Approximately 99 percent of employers with 1,000 or more employees are offering, while the figure for those on the smaller side (100-999 employees) is somewhere between 92.5 and 95.1 percent.
The percentage of smaller employers offering health insurance has fallen since 2009. Just 22.7 percent of companies with fewer than 10 employers offered insurance in 2015; for companies with 10-24 employees, just 48.9 percent are offering health insurance. For companies with up to 99 employees, approximately 73.5 percent are offering health insurance.
