Sanford Health Plan ordered to pay more than $20,000

(Bismarck, ND – Insurance News and Markets) – In late June, North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm announced disciplinary action against Sanford Health Plan.

A consent order issued last month issues more than a dozen ads for Medicare supplement insurance products that the company did not file with the Department of Insurance over a five year period. Sanford has been fined $22,000.

“I am satisfied Sanford Health Plan has taken corrective action to ensure this situation won’t happen again,” said Hamm.

By law, the advertisements should have been filed with the Department within ten days of their use. The Department then reviews the filings for adherence to all advertising requirements.
